The growth of an institution can be credited to not only the management but to all of its employees as well. With minimum resources and support only a strong-willed management can pave the path of success. Laxmi Diamond is a product of immense hard work, determination and an unshaken vision.
“We came from nothing. Our father was a diligent farmer from Amreli, with no knowledge or experience in the diamond industry. My brothers and I started working as diamond polishers at the early of 16. Our struggle, to make it to where we are today, gives us purpose to do something meaningful for the ones who shape the future.” says Mr. Vasant Gajera.
The lack of quality education was the focal point around which Gajera Vidya Bhawan at Katargam, Surat was established. The first step towards contributing to Laxmi Diamond’s family’s future was providing free education to young To nurture young minds of the Laxmi Diamond family without charge, was the first step towards contributing to their family’s future. This initiative was the first of many social responsibilities that lead the Gajera Charitable Trust to stand tall, as you see it, today.
Mr. Vasant Gajera also established Vatsalya Dham, an initiative extremely close to his heart. Founded over 13 years ago, this orphanage provides basic knowledge of workmanship to over 800 children. Irrespective of social, cultural and religious backgrounds, these children are raised in a healthy harmonious environment with the right guidance and resources to build themselves up in their chosen fields.
“Vatsalya Dham has played a part in over 1000 children’s lives. Kids who come from an unstable family or without any family feel at home, get proper guidance and tools to make something of themselves once they leave. Mr. Vasant Gajera makes it a point to go there every Sunday to motivate and guide kids personally so that they positively contribute to our society. It is something that the Gajera Family holds close to their heart.” mentions Mr. Bhumik Gajera.
Not only education but basic health care is a vital part of the CSR activities of Laxmi Diamond. Earlier during the ‘90s, healthcare facilities weren’t fully equipped to meet all requirements. That’s when Gajera Trust stepped in and initiated a line-up of Local Blood Camps on national holidays. The entire team of the firm contributed to this drive by reaching out to many in need. Their recent initiatives focus on helping out villages with limited resources like Daang and Saurashtra and also provide management assistance to Shantabaa Hospital. Without there intervention, multiple cases wouldn’t have been able to be successfully carried out.
Laxmi Diamond’s initiative not only covers education, health care, community service but also focuses on the environment as well. Water preservation, tree plantation and clean drives are a few initiatives frequently conducted by the trust. A 10 Megawatt solar farm in Pali, Rajasthan is another commendable initiative undertaken towards a sustainable future.
All these well-rounded initiatives represent Laxmi Diamond’s staunch belief in “Serving the community, sharing our happiness.” However, it doesn’t stop here for Mr. Bhumik, he says “We still have a lot to work on, from awareness to access to basic facilities.” It is rightly said, “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.”
