Family Vision
The foundation and future of Laxmi Diamond are rooted in kinship and family values. Family is paramount to the founders, the story, and the very existence of this company. It all began with Mr. Vasant Gajera, the eldest of five brothers, who migrated from Amreli to Surat in 1968. Their father, a farmer, lent them ₹10,000 to start their venture. Three brothers - Vasant Gajera, Dhirubhai Gajera, and Girdhar Gajera - set up three small polishing benches, or "ghantis," in a rented house in Surat. Laxmi Diamond was established in 1972, and the past 50 years reflect the brothers' struggles, journey, and story.

Successfully set up 3 polishing units in 3 locations

Established the first polished diamond sales office in Mumbai, India, and concurrently initiated operations of the inaugural overseas sales associate office in Belgium.

Expanded our global operations by establishing sales associate offices in two prominent Asian business hubs, Hong Kong and Bangkok.

Strengthened our international foothold with the addition of a sales associate office in the USA.

1993
Established Smt Shantaben Haribhai Gajera charitable trust at Surat.

1994
Established a manufacturing facility in Surat, which generated gainful employment for a workforce exceeding 2500 individuals.

Appointed site holders by DTC.

Inaugurated the first jewellery factory in Mumbai

Became and stayed the 2nd largest exporter of diamonds in India.

Set up a state-of-the-art jewellery manufacturing unit in SEEPZ, aimed at serving the global export market.

Launched our in-house jewellery brand.

Sir Gabi Tolkowsky appointed as a Training Consultant for Laxmi Diamond.

GABRIELLE® and NOOR™ launched in India and Canada respectively.

Established Vatsalyadham, a shelter, and school for orphans to thrive.

Completed 40 years of Laxmi Diamond. Achieved DTC site holder status in India. Launched LINKED IN LOVE in India.

Started a new state-of-the-art manufacturing factory at Gajera Circle, Surat.

Our retail jewellery brand completed 10 years. Mr Vasant Gajera was felicitated with the “Vatan na Ratan” award by Trividh Dhaatu in Amreli.
